Questions you may have about Permanent Makeup

Q-What is Permanent Makeup?
A- Permanent Makeup is a cosmetic tattoo. It is implanting pigment into the Dermis Layer of the skin.

Q- How painful is the application?
A- I use a Topical anesthetic for all procedures which eliminates most of the discomfort. Some clients experience discomfort due to contributing factors such as diet medication and rest. Each person has a different pain tolerance.  In most cases the topical anesthetic are very effective.

Q- How long does it take?
A- The average Permanent Makeup Procedure takes from hour to three hours depending on the procedure. Touchups can take anywhere from half the time to the full amount depending on what is left to accomplish. This is a process.

Q- How long does it last?
A- On average, permanent makeup will last from 3 to 5 years. The length of time depends on how you care for it.  You must use sunscreen and avoid any skin peels or dermabrasion on the area.

Q- What is the recovery time?
A- The recovery time varies for each client.  Eyebrows look shiny for 10 days.   Eyelid lines and lips may appear to be swollen for 24 hours. You can reduce this by applying ice to the area.

Q- Are these procedures safe?
A- Yes, for each procedure I use all new sterile parts for the machine which are discarded after the one use. Anything that is not disposable is sterilized before each procedure.

Q- Is there any preparation that I need to do before the procedure?
A- We will discuss this during your consultation.  You may be required to see your doctor for a prescription for anti-cold sore medication if you are having a lip procedure.

Q- Can I still wear regular makeup?
A- Yes, after your permanent makeup has healed.  This will just enhance any other cosmetics you use!  Permanent makeup is a very good base and guide for your makeup.

Q- Allergies?
A- The pigment I use in my office is iron oxide based which is hypoallergenic as we naturally have iron in our blood.  If you are prone to allergies we should discuss during our consultation.

Q- Does permanent makeup interfere with MRI’s?
A- In my experience, usually permanent makeup is okay in MRI.  You should inform the technician and they will put a wet face cloth over the permanent makeup.
